Who’s the new art director for Pete’s sake?
Last week, THE DM GROUP welcomed art director Peter Cvetkovski to trademarkDM.
And while his surname might be difficult to pronounce, his attitude – a single minded obsession to create outstanding creative – is easy to understand.
Peter cut his art directing teeth working with major brands including Saab, Hummer and Krispy Kreme. And then sharpened his digital know-how on brands such as Google, Johnson & Johnson and Skills Victoria.
Peter says that his passion for his craft can be best summed up by his advertising idol George Lois:
‘Creativity can solve almost any problem. The creative act, the defeat of habit by orginality, overcomes everything.’
We couldn’t agree more and we’re looking forward to Peter doing just that for our clients here at trademarkDM.

Five minutes a fortnight with – John Brunckhorst
It’s that time again… Time to ask all sorts of probing questions of a not-so-willing DM GROUP staff member, to find out what makes them tick.
Today, our victim is the boomtastic John Brunckhorst.
How long have you been at THE DM GROUP?
Almost 1 year.
What do you do here?
Account executive extraordinaire.
Where was your last holiday?
Santa Catarina, Brazil.
Are you a PC or a Mac?
PC because they are AWESOME! Those Mac peeps are soooo smug.
If you could take two animals and combine them into one super animal – what would they be?
A bat and a sloth.
Really, why’s that?
So I move quickly through the night, but know how to take it easy.
What do you think the DM in THE DM GROUP stands for?
Devious Monkeys.
How do you take your coffee?
Coffee isn’t good. It’s actually bad. Really bad.
What is your greatest achievement?
I’m still alive.
What is your most embarrassing moment?
Most days.
What’s your favourite quote?
Is not life a hundred times too short for us to bore ourselves. – Nietzsche

Going gaga for Gaga!

Love her or hate her (we mean you Craig!) Lady Gaga is leading the social media wave with over 20 million Facebook friends (Barack Obama has a measly 14 million friends).
People in this office average 200 Facebook friends so imagine the pressure of updating your status knowing that 20,124,040 fans will not only see it but most likely comment or ‘Like’. A recent status update was ‘Liked’ 39,522 times with 6923 comments. And this all happened within hours of being posted!
This constant attention and continued popularity allows her to not only publicise upcoming tour dates and increase music and merchandise sales but push her political agenda. Using social media Lady Gaga has received overwhelming support for her fight to abolish the ‘Don’t ask, Don’t tell’ law. Her message is probably reaching more people via Facebook than traditional political forums.

Take him back!

Recently digital planning director Craig Hockley has moved into the Account Service area, away from the scary dark hole we call clickDM.
But Craig found out the hard way that you dont mess with office manager Georgia Rudin, who is now his closest neighbor.
While taping very important boxes to be sent to very important places, Craig asked if Georgia could “tape quieter”.
The comment was not appreciated.
So naturally Georgia taped him to the chair and wheeled him back to where he came from.
Needless to say, Craig now chooses his words carefully.

He said what???
What do you get when you cross a feisty Account Manager on an exercise kick with a Digital Planner who pushed a joke 1.5 kilometres too far? A fitness challenge of epic proportions!
In the red corner, Kylie Blatsis. In the Blue Corner, Craig Hockley.
After Kylie had proudly completed Ferntree Gully’s 1,000 Steps for the first time, Craig thought it would be funny to challenge her to a repeat ascent, although he claimed he’d do it twice in the same time Kylie completed it once. That’s not the sort of challenge you throw down in front of Georgia Rudin if you think you can back out of it later.
Kylie thinks it should be a walk in the park. Craig wishes he could just Fight the Couch instead.
Stay tuned for more…
